"Teddy" came from??????

Have you ever wondered why the Teddy Bear was called so? I have always wanted to know the origin of the name, especially since there is not such bear called Teddy Bear in the animal kingdom. I finally found out the origin of the name:

The Teddy Bear is named after the former US Prez. Theodore Roosevelt, whose nickname was "Teddy" and who enjoyed big game-hunting. The name is said to come from an incident on a bear-hunting trip in Mississippi in 1902, when Roosevelt's attendants found and caught a juvenile Louisiana Black Bear. Roosevelt refused to kill the lassoed animal, calling it "unsportsmanlike", and "Teddy's Bear" was immediately publicized by political cartoonists.

So thats how Teddy bears came into being. So girls, when you are hugging onto your cute cuddly Teddy bear, its actually Theodore Roosevelt whom you are hugging! So watchout gals! His ghost might give a hug back to you - You never know!! :)
